Fundraising for our camp

The day started so cold. So I went and got heaps of jumpers on so that It wouldn’t be cold any more.


I was glad that we were going to do a carwash for our school carwash. I got very happy and started running outside cause I was excited. It was a very exciting day for me. I was very excited because I was going to be washing cars with my friends because this is how we making money for our` camp. Also because This was for our camp.
When we were going to school at 7.30am, there was no one there  so I went with my dad to Tamaki college, then I walked back to Glenbrae school at 8.00 am. When I got there, I saw a lot of kids setting up for the car wash.


After the student and teachers finished setting up the things for the carwash. They started to do the car washing liquid in the bucket so they can start to wash Mrs Elia’s car.


When some of the student finished washing Mrs Elias car they started to wash Mr Nath’s car. Then more cars started to come in, and we started to work faster because their were more cars that come in.


When most of the cars were already washed that's when I got very wet so I went to change out of my wet clothes and changed into my dry clothes and then I didn’t go back to wash any more cars.

Last of all,  it was time for people to start packing up their carwash things and go home. It was very cool because I got to be with my friends and wash cars with them to earn money for our camp.

We raised around $900 and that was a good result for only 4 hours of hard work. I hope we make a lot more money next time.

He is My Maths Work that we have done this Week

Marilyn needs to fertilise her front lawn. It measures 20 metres by 35 metres. Each bag of the fertiliser that she plans to use covers approximately 200m2. How many bags should she buy?










Remember: length X width
1.
20 x 30  = 600
20 x 5 = 100
100  +  600 = 700
20 x 35 = 700
2.
700 ÷ 2 = 350
700 ÷ 200 = 3.5

She will have to by 4 but use have of the 4 bag so then that makes 3.5.

2) Mr Masua needs to fertilise our school lawn. It measures 35 metres by 40 metres. Each bag of the fertiliser that he plans to use covers approximately 200m2. How many bags should he buy?

30 x 40 = 1200
40 x 5 = 200
1200 + 200 = 1400
40 x 35 = 1400

1400 ÷ 2 = 700
1400 ÷ 200 = 7

The strategy I used was called Place value partitioning

Sally was painting her house. She needed 0.48 litres for each wall of her kitchen and 1.34 litres for each wall of her bedroom.
How many litres does she need for the kitchen? The answer is 1.92      4 x 40 = 160
4 x 8 = 32
160 + 32 = 192
How many litres does she need for the bedroom?
134 x 4 = 536 then I put the decimal point in the 5 and the 3

3.98 + 12.34 = 16.32
0.089 + 0.834 = 0.923
Which is bigger? 0.89 or 0.782 0.89
0.98 - 0.234 = 0.746
0.5 - 0.24 = 0.19
12.89 - 9.242 =3.648

TAMAKI COLLEGE

Today we went to Tamaki college to do science for our clubs in school.It was so exciting to do more interesting science.


We were walking to Tamaki but it was not fun because some of the students were being bad so we had to stop couple of times for them.


When we got there he showed us what he has make and one of them were a controlled remote car and the other one  was a crane. It was fun because we got to play with them and I was playing with the car for some time.


When he took the toys back he showed our group a slide show about what a microscope thing can do. When we looked at it it was not really cool because we couldn't see anything.
After that, we went to see what the teachers were making.She was making an topping with salt,some kind of liquid and they put it under the heat and it started to turn into water. After that they went put in some baking powder and then it started to rise. It looked nice to me.


When that finished they went and got a tray and it had some water but it was used for science. There was 2 bottles of water, 1 glass of of a tall cup witch was called a measuring cup.
When we stared we had to but the water in the measuring cup then we got some color and put the color and our color was red and blue and that made purple and that was a cool color. After that she put some kind of dish washing liquid in the measuring cup. After that we put the last bottle of water witch made the water exploded and it look cool.


Last of all it was time, Mr Mahotra ask Levi if he could fly this drone and it was funny because Levi almost crashed it in to the ground. Also landed right on the side of the table but lucky it didn't fall down.
