Today we had maths lesson about Carries cube. This was fun because you had to find witch corners had 3, 2 and 1.  We had a lot of fun trying to solve this problem, it was also hard to figure out.
Here is the problem:

Carrie has glued some cubes together to make a large solid cube with nine small cubes showing on a face.

She paints the large cube red.

How many of the original small cubes have:

1. three faces painted red

2. two faces painted red

3. one face painted red

4. no faces painted red

Sharing Lollies

           We are learning to identify equivalent fractions

Maara and her three friends are going to share a licorice lace. If the lace is 12cm long, what length of the lace will each friend get? What fraction will they get? 1/4

Levi has ¾ of a bag of lollies. If he is given another 3/12 of a bag, what fraction of a bag will he have?  1whole

He is My Maths Work that we have done this Week

Marilyn needs to fertilise her front lawn. It measures 20 metres by 35 metres. Each bag of the fertiliser that she plans to use covers approximately 200m2. How many bags should she buy?

Remember: length X width

1.

20 x 30  = 600

20 x 5 = 100

100  +  600 = 700

20 x 35 = 700

2.

700 ÷ 2 = 350

700 ÷ 200 = 3.5

She will have to by 4 but use have of the 4 bag so then that makes 3.5.

2) Mr Masua needs to fertilise our school lawn. It measures 35 metres by 40 metres. Each bag of the fertiliser that he plans to use covers approximately 200m2. How many bags should he buy?

30 x 40 = 1200

40 x 5 = 200

1200 + 200 = 1400

40 x 35 = 1400

1400 ÷ 2 = 700

1400 ÷ 200 = 7

Sally was painting her house. She needed 0.48 litres for each wall of her kitchen and 1.34 litres for each wall of her bedroom.

How many litres does she need for the kitchen? The answer is 1.92      4 x 40 = 160

4 x 8 = 32

160 + 32 = 192

How many litres does she need for the bedroom?

134 x 4 = 536 then I put the decimal point in the 5 and the 3

3.98 + 12.34 = 16.32

0.089 + 0.834 = 0.923

Which is bigger? 0.89 or 0.782 0.89

0.98 - 0.234 = 0.746

0.5 - 0.24 = 0.19

12.89 - 9.242 =3.648

Heres my maths problem. Sarah backed  350 cakes in 7.5 hours. How many cakes can she bake in 15 hours? 700 because 7.5 + 7.5 = 15 so I did 350 + 350 = 700

The question that the teacher gave us for maths was this.

Piri, Maia and Ollie are planning to make pikelets for the afternoon tea. The recipe needs 3/4 cup of milk to make a batch of 25 pikelets. How many cups will the need to make 100 Pikelets?

This is how I solved the Word problem

loopy people

Today we had to measure our self  so we can make our loopy people for maths.

First every one in the class had to get into pairs and we had to get a measuring tape so we can measure ourselves.

Next we had to write down our measurements in our books. Because we wanted to save paper we had to half our measurements so we make smaller loopy people.

After we had to get some paper and measure our  half measurements on the paper and cut it out. After we cut our measurements out we had to decorate our loopy people.

The final part is putting our loopy people together and then displaying it on our wall.
