Sending Aid to Fiji

Sandra had 700 kilograms of potato to give away to the cyclone victims in Fiji. She was given a list of 25 families to give the potatoes to. How many kilograms would each family receive?

28 divided by 700 = 25

28 x 25 = 700
6 x 4 = 28 x 25 = 700
4/100 kilograms
8/200 kilograms
12/300 kilograms
16/400 kilograms
20/500 kilograms
24/600 kilograms
28/700 kilograms

Maths word problem

Marilyn needs to fertilise her front lawn. It measures 20 metres by 35 metres. Each bag of the fertiliser that she plans to use covers approximately 200m2. How many bags should she buy?

Remember: length X width
1.
20 x 30  = 600
20 x 5 = 100
100  +  600 = 700
20 x 35 = 700
2.
700 ÷ 2 = 350
700 ÷ 200 = 3.5

She will have to by 4 but use have of the 4 bag so then that makes 3.5.

I think this is stage 6 to 7.
My next goal is to use rounding and competition.
